BCF RECEIVES OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO CARIBBEAN CHESS SUB ZONAL 2010


Adjunto la lista de jugadores que estarán participando en el Sub Zonal 2.3 del Caribe a celebrarse desde el 25 de junio al 1ro de julio de 2010 en Bahamas. Puerto Rico cuenta con la representación del nuestro Campeón Nacional el  CM Mark Machín-Rivera (2212) y el MF Gabriel Berrios-Echevaria (2187).

CONVOCATARIA PARA JUGADORES - FIDE SUB ZONAL 2010


La Junta de Directores de la Federación de Ajedrez de Puerto Rico en su reunión mensual ordinaria celebrada el jueves 22 de abril de 2010 aprobó nombrar al Campeón de Puerto Rico 2010, Mark Machín, y al excampeón de Puerto Rico 2009, Gabriel Berrios , como los jugadores oficiales de Puerto Rico para el torneo sub zonal a celebrarse este verano en Nassau, Bahamas.

Con ello la Junta le reconoce a ambos jugadores su derecho a representar a Puerto Rico como Campeón actual al primero y como excampeón al segundo quién por motivos de estudio no pudo representar a Puerto Rico el año de su Campeonato. Los costos de transportación aérea, habitación, alimentación e inscripción para ambos jugadores serán costeados por la Federación.

CONVOCATARIA PARA JUGADORES ADICIONALES

Asimismo la Junta decidió abrir una convocatoria para cinco jugadores adicionales que Puerto Rico tiene derecho a inscribir en el evento. Estos jugadores tendrían que costearse el evento excepto la inscripción
que será reembolsada por la Federación. Los jugadores interesados tienen que someter su petición a la
Junta antes del 30 de abril de 2010, mediante carta, llamada por teléfono o correo electrónico al ministrador
de la Federación, Sr. Vance Berrio, ó enviando un mensaje electrónico a: omaraneses@yahoo.com

Los criterios para seleccionar los jugadores adicionales será el rating, participación durante el último año y compromiso con la Federación (Grand Prix, etc.). Se requiere un mínimo de 2000 rating FIDE para
solicitar.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

INVITATION

The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) has the honour of inviting National Chess Federations to participate in The Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal 2.3 2010 to be held at Nassau, Bahamas from Friday 25th June, 2010 (Arrival) to Thursday 1st July, 2010 (Departure). The list of invited Chess Federations alone with the number of official players are as follows:

GENERAL CONDITIONS

The event is regulated by The Official Laws of Chess as published by FIDE, the “REGULATIONS FOR THE AMERICA’S MEN SUBZONAL TOURNAMENT” and the present General Conditions.

In addition, to the Official Players each Federation can nominate and enter 5 additional chess players. The costs (entry fee, room and board etc) of the additional players will be the responsibility of the respective Federations.

Room and Board for official players will be provided for by the Organizer from 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival to 11:00 a.m. on the day of departure.

CONDITION OF ENTRY – FEES

Each participant must pay US $75 to the Organizing Committee as a registration fee.

REGISTRATION AND TRAVEL CONDITIONS

All entries are to be submitted in writing to the Organising Committee on or before April 30, 2010. All nominated players must register through their respective National Federations.

The entries must include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating and passport number of each player and each accompanying person.

Transportation from and to the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) will be provided by the BCF. Transportation from the LPIA on the day of arrival will depart at 3:00 p.m. On the day of departure transportation will depart the Hotel for the LPIA at 4:00 p.m. Players and accompanying persons departing at times other than those above must organise transportation by themselves.

ACCOMMODATION

Players will be accommodated at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, Nassau.

FORMAT, RULES AND REGULATIONS

The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Rate of play will be according to FIDE regulations 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the Game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

The Organizing Committee will provide invitation letters for visas only after the entry fees have been paid.
